We are seeking experienced translators and proofreaders to assist our in-house English department. You must be a fluent English speaker.

Your tasks

You will be required to translate a wide and interesting variety of texts ranging from advertising to finance for correct spelling, punctuation and grammar in an accurate, speedy and skilful manner. Beside this, you will assure the quality of translations completed by freelancers, and will proofread English-language documents.

Qualifications/Requirements

To successfully fill this position, it is absolutely crucial that you have an excellent command of the English language alongside an impeccable knowledge of grammar and style. You are proficient in German, and are willing to live in the Hamburg area.

You have a translation/proofreading qualification and/or have gained at least two years of relevant experience working at a publishing house or an agency which specialises in proofreading/translations from German into English.

You should possess enough sensitivity to style and diplomacy to be able to rework unintended stylistic inconsistencies or meanings. You have an excellent eye for details and can work to tight deadlines. Finally, you should also be familiar with the latest advertising trends in the British and/or American consumer markets.
